Working full time, well, is full time. Throw in being a dad, and life gets a little more complicated. Add in a little night school, and suddenly you're blowing people's minds with your amazing balance of life. So how do you maintain that level of greatness now that you're single? Even more important, how do you make room for activities and socializing? Well, I'm here to help.
Work
If having a job is your only full-time commitment (besides being a dad), then you have it easier than me. Unfortunately for you, you should probably keep reading because in order to have that job, I'm assuming you require babysitting. So how do you handle a job and your kids' school and afterschool activities? By working with your employer. Many people are afraid to approach their employer and ask for a schedule change or a little assistance to get through the daily grind of being a single parent. If your employer is family oriented, they will accommodate you. Explain your situation to your manager and be ready to give alternatives. They'll appreciate that you asked with a solution in mind.
Education
If you're a full-time student without a job, and a single dad, then I hope your kids aren't eating ramen noodles for dinner too. For dads who work full-time and are wondering how you can go to school too, don't fret. Going to school is easier than it's ever been. You can finish your education by taking one to two classes a semester either on campus or online. Example: I work full-time, drop-off and pick-up my kids from school, and go to school on campus twice a week. You may need to ask family to help with babysitting some nights, or hire a trustworthy babysitter. If you share custody with your ex, then you can try to get classes that fall on the nights the kids are with her. In any event, make sure you don't give up on your education. Find the time. Your kids, and your wallet, will thank you in the long run.
Activities
So you're working and going to school. Where's the time for fun? To be honest, there probably won't be much. Nevertheless, you're going to need to schedule it in somewhere because you will need to free your mind from the everyday stressors. Find a day where you can get away with friends, or by yourself, and do whatever you want in that given allotment. Even if it's just a few hours of hitting golf balls or going for a run, it will help you maintain your level of awesomeness. Yeah, I said it. You're awesome.
